As a company, our culture shines when it comes to helping in and around our communities. We don’t just encourage our employees to volunteer, we pay them to. Each employee can take two paid days off each year to perform community service. Our company culture values people and relationships above all else, beginning in the workplace and continuing into the areas where we live and play. Our community service efforts are as diverse as our people – from packaging lunches and dinners through Open Hand Atlanta and running BINGO at a homeless women’s shelter to sorting and packing one ton of books for Books for Africa and cleaning up at a local pet rescue – our employees take pride in giving back and we are proud to support them in doing so.
We Raise Funds
At Hodges-Mace, we like to have fun. We also like to support local charities. So our leaders combined the two! For the last several years, our leaders pledge their own money at our Annual Bowling for Dollars event. All company employees and their families gather on a Saturday to knock down some pins and help raise money for several charities. Last year, over $17,000 was raised to benefit Georgia Special Olympics, Camp Southern Ground, Atlanta Youth Academy, and The Dr. William Boydston Pediatric Neurosurgery Fund and Neurosurgery at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
We Give Back
Giving back is more than just volunteering. Currently, we sponsor 100 holiday “wishes” through Creative Community Services by providing gifts for children, teens and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health needs. We also contributed 117 letters to The Big Thank You campaign, held by Atlanta’s The Bert Show, that sends letters of gratitude to every single serviceman and woman who is deployed overseas and cannot be home for the holidays.
Hodges-Mace doesn’t have a go-to list of organizations that we help. We let our employees choose who they want to support. This year, our employees have volunteered at the following organizations – just to name a few – during their community service days, lunch breaks, or as extracurricular activities:
- Dance 411 Foundation
- West Atlanta Watershed Alliance
- Shepherds Staff Food Bank
- American Red Cross
- Heard Mixon Elementary School
- Pound Puppies and Kittens
- Live Oak Elementary School
- Atlanta Humane Society
- Wheels on Meals
- Camp Grace
- South Carolina Flooding Disaster Relief
- Everybody Wins! Power Lunch
- Cooks Warehouse
- Nearly New Thrift Store
- Fur Kids Animal Shelter
- City of Refuge
- Chastain Horse Park Therapeutic Riding Program
- Woodstock Little River Elementary
- USC Disaster Relief
- Food Pantry
We Help Our Employees
As the cost of education continues to climb, Hodges-Mace helps the families of our employees support their children as they pursue a higher education. Each child of a Hodges-Mace employee enrolled as a full-time student receives a $1,000 annual scholarship. The goal of the program is to show support of higher education and help with some of the expenses that go beyond tuition and room and board.
